Frank
formed Applied Visions in 1987 with the goal of building a world-class
software technology company, where top developers could create cutting-edge
software in a supportive environment tailored to their needs.
From
1982 to 1987 Frank managed software development for the Video Products
Division of the Chyron Corporation, where he was responsible for
the organization and management of a software development team for
this newly formed division of the industry-leading maker of computer
graphics equipment for television and video production. The Video
Products Division provided low-cost, high-quality versions of the
company's flagship high-end product, aimed at offering small video
production facilities the same image quality (at lower speed) as
their broadcast network counterparts.
Prior
to that, from 1978 to 1982, Frank was a senior software developer
for the Simulation Systems Division of Gould Inc. (formerly Hydrosystems
Inc.), a leading manufacturer of simulation and training equipment
for the military. There he participated in the analysis, design,
and development of software for real-time simulators of aircraft,
ships, and nuclear power plants. He was also involved in the development
of a real-time visual display system for use in aircraft and gunnery
simulators, creating a true "virtual reality" experience.
Frank
attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook, receiving
his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering in 1981, followed
by his Master of Science in Computer Science in 1982.
