Serious Games
AVI is a leader in applying computer gaming technology to defense applications, providing innovative battlefield visualization capabilities in a gaming environment that is second nature to today's warfighter.

Our particular focus is on Delta3D, an open-source gaming and simulation engine that is supported by the MOVES Institute, the Defense Modeling and Simulation component of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, CA. AVI maintains a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the MOVES Institute, under which we collaborate on adding new capabilities to Delta3D.

These “serious games” concepts are embodied in AVI’s Tactical Target Analysis and Prediction (TTAPS) platform. TTAPS visualizes potential targets in a realistic three-dimensional environment, and - through the physics simulation capabilities of Delta3D coupled with innovative artificial intelligence algorithms - predicts the movement of those targets through the environment. This makes the targets easier to find, and optimizes the use of the resources needed to find - and deal with - those targets.

TTAPS was initially developed to support the Tactical Tomahawk Weapon Control Station (TTWCS), and is now being adapted for use with NAVAIR’s Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) programs.

AVI's serious games technology is now available to any application developer through our Game Bridge interface component. Game Bridge builds a bridge between command and control data sources and computer game engines.
